I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I am a caffeine fiend. Yes, I am trying hard to cut down on my coffee/occasional Diet Coke consumption, but nothing makes me feel better than a giant cup of quality coffee.
A few months ago, I was slogging through a long run when I ran past a place I hadn't seen before in San Diego's North Park. Giant block letters on the side of the building that read "COFFEE & FLOWERS" caught my eye. I took a mental note of what intersection I was crossing as I ran past.
After my run, I picked up one of my friends a few blocks away and dragged her to join me at the "Coffee & Flowers" building I ran past. I was so curious - not only do I love coffee, but I love flowers.
The simple black and white (with gold and pastel accents) decor continued in Communal Coffee's interior - so cute.
Communal Coffee is split into three sections - one part espresso bar and kitchen, one part gift shop and one part co-working space. The coffee shop's menu is decked out with traditional espresso drinks and innovative drinks like a Lavender Honey Latte and Maple Cardamom Latte. They even offer latte flights, so you can sample various flavors (perfect for someone as indecisive as me). The menu also includes small pastries and healthy staples like avocado toast.
The gift shop is reminiscent of the Communal's North Park neighbor - Pigment. The shop offers local goods and gifts (think candles, cards, jewelry) and a flower shop with beautifully designed bouquets.
Communal Coffee has now become a staple in my caffeine consumption, my Instagram feed (it's just so cute!) and an amazing place to spend Saturdays with good friends.
