Claire's on Cedros
If you don't like brunch, I don't like you.
Brunch in the South was huge. I had never experienced "true" brunch until I moved to Nashville, where my weekend mornings were filled with church service and immediately followed by eggs Benedict, mimosas, biscuits & gravy, gossip from the night before, sundresses, and everything in between.
Enter Claire's on Cedros.
On my birthday, my manager gave me a gift card to Claire's on Cedros because she knew how much I loved Solana Beach. Months later, I had a friend in town who shared my love for brunch, so we decided to head up north to Solana Beach and check it out.
Claire's is located on Cedros - next to the famous design district and just two blocks away from the beach. The restaurant looks like a remodeled home and the decor matched - very adorably beach cottage-y. Beyond that, the building is LEED certified which is pretty cool - one of the only places in San Diego!
After a half hour wait (you can purchase coffee & pastries during your wait on the cute wraparound porch), my friend and I were sat and immediately faced with a huge menu full of everything you could ever want! We both decided to go the breakfast route, which I highly recommend (though I may be biased - I will always choose it over lunch food!). She ordered savory, while I ordered sweet - perfect for sharing between the two of us!
My friend ended up choosing the Tuscan Benedict - poached eggs, sautéed spinach, roasted tomatoes and pesto topped with hollandaise and served on your choice of breakfast side (she opted for croissant). On the other hand, I ordered the Bananas Foster Stuffed French Toast - brioche stuffed with homemade ricotta & topped with toasted pecans, bananas and rum-infused syrup.
Wow. Both of our meals were divine - and huge!! I couldn't finish my meal and remained stuffed the entire day. It was definitely worth the cheat day, and totally reminded me of my decadent brunches in Tennessee.
