Tuesday Ten

Tuesday Ten

After a week off (in Cuba), I'm back to my normal Tuesday Ten schedule!

Straight off the plane from Cuba, I hopped back into a normal routine. Quite literally - I went straight from the airport to work (#yesregrets)...and just a few days later, I went to my company's holiday party. I'm not usually one for the Christmas season, but something about all the trees at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, the crispness in the air and the festive atmosphere...well, it had me feeling the holiday spirit this year. Maybe I won't be such a Grinch this year after all!

Aside from my festive feels, here's what else I'm feeling this week.

1. The One & Only

I split my downtime in Cuba between journaling and reading. My first book on the list? The One and Only - Emily Giffin's latest book. Emily Giffin is one of my favorite authors because she manages to put substance behind chick lit. It's the best of both worlds. The One and Only was thoughtful, funny and unexpected...and my friend Leah can attest to the fact that I couldn't put it down. I'm definitely having good book hangover after this read.

2. Studio Lifted

Last night, I visited Studio Lifted (formally Ashley Lane Fitness) in Hillcrest for the first time. Founded by a badass chick, this studio focuses on community and strength. I opted for a quick 45-minute PartyCycle ride led by my friend Jenna and can't wait to go back already. The studio was pristine, the bikes were easy to use and the class vibe was unparalleled. Who's coming with me?

3. San Diego's "Cold" Weather

Right now, San Diego is going through a "cold" spat. When I woke up this morning, it was under 40 degrees. Say what?! While I normally am not a fan of cold weather at all, I'm appreciating this crisp spell...and it's making cozy, snuggly nights in feel totally validated. I'll take this "winter" for a little while.

4. Davine's All in One Milk

If you know me at all, you know I am crazy about my hair. One of my newest favorite products to treat my hair with? Davine's All in One Milk. I found this product in a Birchbox that I won and have since been obsessed. The product uses Roucou oil to soften, detangle and fight frizz. You can use it on wet and dry hair - and it also acts as a heat protectant. Best part? It smells so good.

5. Gold Leaf

My dear friends Mike and Lauryn gifted me an intention setting bracelet from Gold Leaf, a boutique in South Park, for my birthday. Months later, I finally got to stop in to the cute shop this weekend. The shop is full of small gifts and home accents...and I wanted it all. So adorable - and all local! I opted for some pretty wooden earrings, but will definitely be returning for some Christmas shopping. It doesn't hurt that it's in my favorite neighborhood in San Diego.

6. Fathom Crossfit

On Saturday, I headed to Fathom Crossfit in Barrio Logan for a morning workout. I hadn't been to a CrossFit gym in a few years, and I forgot how much I liked the intense workouts. I felt super strong and empowered - and I liked that the gym was open air. More than that, everyone at the gym was incredibly nice and welcoming. Wins all around. PS: on Saturdays, the 10 AM workout is a community workout (aka free). PPS: I think I'm still sore.

7. Huffington Post's 20 Funniest Tweets from Women This Week

One of my friends introduced me to Huffington Post's weekly roundup of tweets this past week - and I can't stop binge reading them! Each week, HuffPo gathers hilarious and succinct tweets from women around the world - that are beyond real. If you want a laugh, take a read.

8. The 805

Who would have ever imagined that a freeway would make it on to this list?! Certainly not me. But, yesterday, I was headed home from work in to North Park and opted for the 805 S. Normally this freeway is a disaster, but yesterday, I noticed that the city (or someone) had strung Christmas lights across every overpass. It was festive and fun (and paired well with that chilly San Diego weather). Honestly, it made traffic pretty tolerable.

9. The School of Greatness with Lewis Howes

More predictably, another podcast made this week's list. I originally started listening to the podcast to hear an episode featuring Justin Baldoni (aka Rafael from Jane the Virgin), but I've since continued this podcast binge. Host Lewis Howes is a bestselling author and former pro athlete - who interviews and shares stories from business men and women, athletes and celebrities and digs into what makes them "great." Each episode is super inspiring and really makes you think. My favorite guests? Elizabeth Gilbert, Justin Baldoni and Kathryn Budig.

10. Vital Proteins' Collagen Peptides

I've been experimenting with a few different protein powders lately...and all of my samples lead me back to Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides. This protein powder is tasteless, not gritty or powdery and doesn't contain any allergens for me (pea protein, soy, etc.). It's been a great way to get protein in post-workout and gives my morning oatmeal a little more substance. Is it weird I'd accept this as a Christmas gift?! I totally would.

What are you up to this week? Let me know in the comments below!
